Resolution Requirements

Minimum Resolution

  • 1500 x 1000 pixels — The absolute minimum for acceptable print quality
  • Photos below this resolution will show a low quality warning in the editor

Recommended Resolution

  • 2500 x 1700 pixels or higher — For crisp, detailed prints
  • Most modern smartphone photos (12MP+) meet this requirement easily
  • DSLR and mirrorless camera photos typically exceed this

What "Low Quality" Warning Means

When you see a yellow warning icon on a photo in the editor, it means:

  • The photo resolution is too low for its placement size
  • The printed result may appear blurry or pixelated
  • Consider using a higher-resolution version or placing it in a smaller frame

File Size

  • Maximum: 50 MB per photo
  • Recommended: 2-10 MB for optimal quality and upload speed
  • Photos over 50 MB will not upload

Tips for Best Print Quality

From Your Phone

  • Use the original photo, not a screenshot or social media download
  • Avoid heavy cropping — it reduces resolution
  • Turn off "High Efficiency" mode on iPhone if you encounter issues (Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible)

From a Camera

  • Export at full resolution
  • Use JPEG quality of 90% or higher
  • sRGB color space is recommended

General Tips

  • Avoid zooming too much in the editor — zooming into a photo reduces its effective resolution
  • Use well-lit photos — Dark photos may look even darker when printed
  • Check for blur — Motion blur and out-of-focus areas become more visible in print
  • Avoid heavily filtered photos — Strong filters can produce unexpected results in print

Common Questions

My photo shows a quality warning — can I still use it?

  • Yes, you can still place the photo. The warning is informational. However, the printed result may not be as sharp as higher-resolution photos.

What resolution do phone cameras shoot at?

  • Most modern phones (iPhone 12+, Samsung Galaxy S21+) shoot at 12MP or higher, which is 4032 x 3024 pixels — well above the minimum requirement.

Do you compress my photos?

  • We optimize photos for printing while maintaining maximum quality. Your original files are preserved in your gallery.
