How to Use the Photobook Editor

The QARTA photobook editor is where you bring your photos together into a beautiful photobook. This guide covers the main features and layout of the editor.

Editor Overview

When you open the editor, you'll see these main areas:

Page Thumbnails Panel (Left)

  • Shows all pages in your photobook as small thumbnails
  • Click a thumbnail to jump to that page
  • Scroll to navigate through all pages
  • The current page is highlighted

Spread View (Center)

  • Shows two facing pages side by side (a "spread")
  • This is where you design — drag photos, add text, and customize
  • Use the zoom controls to zoom in/out

Gallery Panel (Right)

  • Shows photos from your linked galleries
  • Drag photos directly from this panel onto your pages
  • Unplaced photos have a dot indicator

Basic Workflow

1. Add Photos to Pages

  1. Open the gallery panel on the right
  2. Drag a photo onto a page
  3. Drop it into a photo frame
  4. The photo fills the frame automatically

2. Arrange and Customize

  • Move photos — Drag between frames to swap positions
  • Resize — Drag the corners of a frame to resize
  • Crop — Click a photo to enter crop mode, then drag to reposition within the frame

3. Add Text

  1. Click the "Add Text" button
  2. Click on the page where you want text
  3. Type your text
  4. Use the toolbar to change font, size, and color

4. Preview

  1. Click the "Preview" button
  2. See how your photobook will look when printed
  3. Check all pages before ordering

Key Features

Auto-Save

  • Your work saves automatically every few seconds
  • No need to manually save
  • Close and return anytime — your progress is preserved

Undo / Redo

  • Use Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on Mac) to undo
  • Use Ctrl+Shift+Z (or Cmd+Shift+Z on Mac) to redo

Page Templates

  • Apply pre-designed layouts to any page
  • Choose from single-photo, multi-photo, and text layouts

  • Design the front cover, back cover, and endpapers
  • Add title text, background colors, and images

  • Start with photos — Place all your photos first, then fine-tune the layout

  • Check quality — Watch for low-resolution warnings on photos

Can I work on my photobook across multiple sessions?

  • Yes, auto-save ensures your work is preserved. Just reopen your project to continue.

How do I add more pages?

  • Page count is set when you create the project based on the photobook variant you selected.

Can two people edit the same project?

  • Projects are single-user. Only one person can edit at a time.
