How to Design Your Cover

How to Design Your Cover

Your photobook cover is the first thing people see. Make it memorable with a custom design.

Cover Components

Your photobook has these cover elements:

  • Front cover — The main face of your photobook
  • Back cover — The back of your photobook
  • Endpapers — The inside of the front and back covers

Designing the Front Cover

1. Navigate to the Cover

  1. In the editor, click the first thumbnail in the page panel (labeled "Cover")
  2. The cover spread will appear in the center view

2. Add a Cover Photo

  1. Drag a photo from your gallery panel onto the cover
  2. Position and crop it to your liking
  3. Consider using your best or most meaningful photo

3. Add a Title

  1. Click "Add Text" in the toolbar
  2. Type your photobook title (e.g., "Our Wedding Day" or "Summer 2025")
  3. Style the text — choose a font, size, and color that complement your cover photo

4. Choose a Background

  • Select a background color that complements your photos
  • Or use a photo as the full background

Using Cover Templates

  1. Click the "Templates" button while on the cover page
  2. Browse available cover templates
  3. Click a template to apply it
  4. Customize the template with your photos and text

Design Tips

  • Keep it clean — A single strong photo with minimal text works best
  • High-resolution photo — Use your highest quality photo for the cover
  • Readable text — Ensure title text contrasts well with the background
  • Consider the spine — For thicker photobooks, the spine may show; keep important elements away from the center fold

Back Cover

  1. Navigate to the back cover page in the thumbnails panel
  2. You can add photos, text, or leave it with a solid color
  3. Many people add a small photo or a closing quote

Endpapers

  • Endpapers are the decorative inside of the front and back covers
  • Choose a solid color or pattern that matches your theme
  • They add a premium, polished feel to your photobook

Common Questions

Can I use different designs for front and back covers?

  • Yes, front and back covers are independent. Design each one separately.

Will the cover look different when printed?

  • Use the Preview feature to see an accurate representation. Colors may vary slightly between screens and print.
