How to Crop & Position Photos
Fine-tune how your photos appear in their frames by cropping and repositioning them.
Cropping a Photo
1. Enter Crop Mode
- In the editor, click on a photo that's already placed in a frame
- The photo enters crop mode — you'll see the full image with the frame overlay
2. Adjust the Crop
- Drag the photo to reposition it within the frame
- Zoom in or out using the zoom slider to show more or less of the photo
- The frame stays fixed while you move the photo behind it
3. Confirm
- Click outside the photo or press Enter to confirm
- The crop is saved automatically
Swapping Photos
Between Frames
- Click and hold a photo in one frame
- Drag it to another frame on the same page
- The two photos swap positions
From Gallery
- Drag a new photo from the gallery panel
- Drop it onto an existing photo in a frame
- The new photo replaces the old one
Positioning Tips
Rule of Thirds
- Position key subjects (faces, focal points) at the intersection of thirds
- Avoid centering everything — off-center compositions are more dynamic
Leave Breathing Room
- Don't crop too tightly on faces
- Leave some space around the subject
- Remember that a small margin may be trimmed during printing
Photo Orientation
- Landscape photos work best in wide frames
- Portrait photos work best in tall frames
- Matching orientation reduces the need for heavy cropping
Quality Considerations
- Avoid over-zooming — Zooming in too much reduces print quality
- Watch for the low quality warning icon — it appears when a photo is zoomed beyond its resolution
- Use higher-resolution photos for large frames
Common Questions
Can I rotate a photo?
- Photos are displayed in their original orientation. If a photo appears rotated, re-export it from your photo app in the correct orientation before uploading.
How do I reset a crop?
- Click on the photo to enter crop mode and drag it back to the original position, or apply a template to reset the frame.
